Welcome to WilderWoods AltText. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the WilderWoods AltText WordPress plugin and the associated cloud services (collectively, the “Service”) provided by WilderWoods Website Development (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By installing, activating, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service

WilderWoods AltText is a WordPress plugin that connects to a remote cloud service (“WilderWoods AltText Cloud”) to analyze images in your WordPress Media Library and generate AI-powered metadata, including alt text, titles, captions, and descriptions. The AI processing is powered by third-party technology, including Google’s Gemini API.

2. User Responsibilities & AI Disclaimer

WilderWoods AltText utilizes artificial intelligence to generate text. While we strive for high accuracy and accessibility, AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or contextually inappropriate.

  • You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated metadata before publishing it on your website.
  • WilderWoods AltText is designed to help you work towards WCAG accessibility guidelines, but we do not guarantee that the generated output will result in 100% legal or regulatory compliance.
  • You agree not to use the Service to generate metadata for illegal, harmful, or infringing content.

3. Credits, Pricing, and Payments

  • Merchant of Record: All purchases of credit packs are processed securely by Freemius, our licensed Merchant of Record. By purchasing credits, you also agree to Freemius’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  • Credit Usage: Each successfully generated image metadata set consumes one (1) credit from your account balance.
  • No Arbitrary Expiration: Purchased credits do not have an arbitrary expiration date or countdown clock. You may use them at your own pace.
  • Service Discontinuation: While we intend to support this Service long-term, WilderWoods Website Development reserves the right to discontinue the WilderWoods AltText Service at any time. In the unlikely event of service discontinuation, we will provide at least thirty (30) days’ advance notice via email and/or a plugin dashboard notification. Users with unused credits at the time of shutdown will be eligible for a pro-rata refund for the undelivered portion of their purchase, processed via Freemius.

4. Data Privacy & External Services

To function, WilderWoods AltText must transmit limited data to our secure cloud servers. We are committed to transparency:

  • What is sent: When you initiate generation, we send the image’s public URL and a brief, anonymized text summary of your site (e.g., site name, tagline) to provide the AI with basic contextual terminology.
  • What is NOT sent: We do not upload your actual image files to our servers (we only send the public URL). We do not collect or transmit any data regarding your site’s visitors, customers, or private backend content.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, WilderWoods Website Development shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or website functionality, arising out of your use or inability to use the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for credits in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

6. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service or legal requirements. We will notify users of any material changes via the plugin dashboard or email. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
